Here’s what you’ll need for a recipe that calls for 1 teaspoon of apple pie spice:
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
dash of ground allspice
dash of cloves or cardamom
The blend is perfect for apple pie, of course, but it’s also fabulous on baked apples, oatmeal, in muffins and granola. Feel free to customize yours. Adding a little more cinnamon or nutmeg if you wish – or get a little crazy by adding some cardamom for an unexpected, delicious twist.
